That's Chicago

We had a great time. We always do when we're away. With no kids. Sometimes as a parent it's easy to forget how important togetherness is with your spouse. This past weekend we remembered and we savored.

One of the places we savored was this little breakfast place. Hands down the BEST breakfast place we've ever eaten at. Kanela (sigh).

French press coffee all to myself.

cinnamon whip cream, yum
Daddy all to myself.

Red velvet french toast, yes please.

Company of good friends and our wonderful hosts.

Thanks Dave and Danielle

 Chargers vs. Bears

Ummm, Chicago fall weather is a little more extreme than California fall weather FYI.

Our friends Lisa and Sam also live in the city, too much fun with these guys

Despite the outcome of the game, my big guy was in his element and LOVING every minute of it.

Praise the Lord

Michigan Ave.

After an encore at Kanela the next morning (highly recommend the spicy feta omelette), we hopped on the El for a day of shopping.

We did a little Christmas shopping for Jules. Shhhhhh, don't tell.

Visited The Drake with my Drake.

We capped off the day with a little deep dish and drink before heading for the airport.

The trip was quick. Every moment was enjoyed and appreciated. During the course of our stay our friend Dave commented on how Drake and I always sound so happy when we talk to each other. I took his observation as a huge compliment and a good lesson. People are always watching. Togetherness is important in marriage. Knowing and accepting each other is important in marriage. The way we interact with each other is important in marriage. You never know who's watching. Strangers, friends, your children. Praise the Lord there is still obvious joy when we're together.

Once again, Happy 8 year Anniversary Honey!!
