The Patch

It is drizzling out and my bedroom windows are open which means I can smell wet asphalt and fresh grass, I love that smell. I'm sitting on the floor leaning up against my bed with a coffee cup beside me. I need more coffee, but I dare not leave this room because the kids are happily playing and I know that the mere sight of me evokes needs that they otherwise don't have.

I have so much to do, so much. We leave for Florida tonight. There is packing and prepping and a party to attend before we board our 10:30 pm flight...a party that starts in two hours that I must look presentable for...however I feel compelled to document. The words and images are dancing around in my head and I want them out.

We went to the pumpkin patch yesterday.

All of us.

With babies in matching outfits.

And one who wasn't so sure this patch thing was a good idea...mostly because it wasn't her idea.

However, the bounce house brought her out of her shell and by the end I was high stepping over pumpkins to get her and pulling her out of a wheel barrow to put her in the car.

We all had a great time.

{we heart our baby cousin}

Something about gourds and hay just makes everything seem like a photo opp. So I seized the moment and snapped away.

Pumpkin patch pictures are fun. Traditions and special times. I'm blessed we have them. However, as we enter into this season of holiday fun and merriment, I pray my children see the greater meaning of it all. We are thankful to God that he has given us abundant life in Jesus Christ. Candy, costumes, turkey, and trees are cherished and anticipated, but they are not the focus.

Lord, keep my eyes fixed on you, the author and perfecter of my faith so that my children see you being lived out in my life. I pray they would desire death to the bondage of this world and earnestly seek your will for their life. Praise you Father that you love them more than I do, break their hearts for your son Jesus. Help us keep Him the focus this holiday season ~Amen
