Happy Seventh Sweet Juliana

Starting on what was her due date, June 4, I would tell her what I was doing at that time 7 years ago. Pretty soon she caught on and would ask, "now what were you doing mama?"

"Right around now seven years ago, Daddy was getting home from work and we were preparing to go for a walk, Mama was determined to walk you out"

"Hey Jules, I was still walking"

"Seven years ago today I was eating a chocolate chip cookie at Panera Bread and I started feeling contractions"

"Right around now I called the doctor and she told me to head to the hospital"

"Daddy and I were walking up and down the hospital halls"

"Mama was in a lot of pain"

"Now Mama was in A LOT of pain"

Knowing that she was born shortly after midnight on the tenth when she woke up on the morning of her birthday the first words out of her mouth were, "what were you doing seven years ago now that I've been born?"

"Staring sweet girl, mama was just staring at you."

That first night, my eyes never left her face. I was completely in awe. I can't believe she is already seven, finished with first grade, dancing on stage and confidently building friendships and finding her place. I love her so much, she is so special.

Happy 7th Birthday Juliana Grace!!

  1. Dear Juliana,
I vividly remember the night you were born. I drove for two hours to come see you. I especially remember hearing your mama's laugh through the hospital door the moment you were born. It was pure elation. I also remember grandma then saying with tears of joy "She's here!" We were all so thrilled. You were the first to make me an Auntie! Love you sweet girl. Happy 7th birthday!
