Six Years

Dear Juliana Grace,

Today you are six. I can't even write those words without tears blurring my vision. Six. Today is also the sixth anniversary of when I became a mommy.

Six years ago Daddy and I walked those hospital halls willing you to come faster, but you little lady, you came into the world on your own time. You still do everything on your own time, when you're ready and not pushed.

I remember seeing you for the first time, holding you close and exclaiming "my baby, my baby" through laughter and tears. Daddy was captivated by you and still is.

I remember exactly the way you smelled and how you felt in my arms. I remember my hands shaking as I buckled you into your car seat for the first time. And so began our journey together.

I have been a student of you for the past six years. I am six years wiser, six years blessed. Through you the Lord has given me mere glimpses of the kind of love He has for us.

I have kissed your sweet cheeks over a million times. Watched your dimpled knees and thighs turn lean and knobby. Carried you to preschool and walked you to kindergarten.

We have spent six years skipping, dancing, creating and cuddling. You're so full of life Julebug and your spirit is contagious.

I know I can't keep you little. But I can help you blossom. I pray everyday the Lord will give me wisdom as I raise you and discipline you in His ways. I pray that your heart will be for Him, that you will use your intelligence and vivacity for His purpose.

You are so special. Beautiful inside and out. Happy 6th Birthday sweet girl. I love you so much it hurts.

Our journey together is far from over...
xoxo~Mommy

  1. Happy Birthday my sweet girl! Yes, six years ago today first thing in the morning (12:07am) you made me a grandma for the first time. You rocked my world in a wonderful way. Your blue eyes never miss anything and your spirit is very sensitive too all. I have many "Juliana memories" that bring a smile to face and a joy to my soul. I thank God that He has allowed me to be a "hands on" grandma as well as an "on my knees" grandma. I pray for you that you grow to love Jesus with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. I love you so much birthday girl. XXX000 - Grandma
